Shipping Policy

Thank you for visiting my studio gallery. Every piece of art—whether a fine art print or an original oil painting—is handled and packaged with the utmost care to ensure it arrives safely at your door.

1. Domestic Shipping (Ireland)

  • Fine Art Prints & Cards: Shipped via An Post (Tracked). Flat rate of €10.00, or free on orders over €100.
  • Original Oil Paintings: Shipped via An Post insured tracked service within Ireland. Flat rate of €20.00.
  • Studio Pickup: Complimentary collection available from the West Cork Collective, Main Street, Ballinspittle, Kinsale, County Cork by appointment. Please contact emma@emmajacobsart.com to arrange.

2. Fine Art Prints & Cards (EU & Worldwide)

  • EU Orders: Standard tracked flat rate of €20.00 applied at checkout.
  • Rest of World (USA, UK, Canada, Australia, etc.): International shipping for prints and cards is calculated on a per-order basis. Please contact emma@emmajacobsart.com with your delivery postal code for a quote before purchasing.

3. Original Oil Paintings (International Shipping — Quote on Request)

Due to the unique value, dimensions, weight, and daily carrier rate fluctuations, international shipping for original paintings outside of Ireland is calculated on an individual order basis.

How International Original Art Shipping Works:

  • Option A — Quote Prior to Purchase: Contact emma@emmajacobsart.com with the title/size of the painting and your delivery postal code. A custom shipping quote will be provided within 24–48 hours based on real-time carrier rates, crating requirements, and insurance.
  • Option B — Reserve & Invoice at Checkout: You may complete your purchase on the website. At checkout, select "International Original Shipping (Invoiced Separately)". Your piece will be reserved, and a separate transparent shipping invoice reflecting the exact carrier cost will be emailed to you before dispatch.

Why do rates vary? Original oil paintings are billed based on dimensional (volumetric) weight rather than physical weight alone. Larger canvases require custom wooden crating or specialised double-walled packaging, which affects carrier rates on any given day.

4. Packaging & Drying Times for Oil Artworks

  • Fine Art Prints & Cards: Shipped flat in rigid board envelopes or rolled in heavy-duty postal tubes.
  • Original Oils: Unframed or gallery-wrapped canvases are packed in high-density corner protectors, moisture-barrier wrapping, bubble wrap, and heavy-duty corrugated board or custom timber crates.
  • Curing Notice: Fresh oil paintings require proper curing time before safe packaging. If a newly completed painting needs additional drying time, you will be notified immediately upon purchase with an updated dispatch estimate.

5. Customs, Taxes, and Import Duties

  • EU Deliveries: No customs duties apply to orders shipped within the European Union.
  • International Deliveries (Non-EU, including UK & USA): Orders shipped outside the EU may be subject to import duties, local sales tax, or customs clearance fees assessed by your country's border control.
  • Responsibility: All import duties, VAT, or local processing fees are the buyer's responsibility. Original paintings qualify under Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) Code 9701.10 (Original Paintings/Drawings).

6. Insurance & Tracking

All original artwork shipments are fully insured against loss or transit damage and include end-to-end tracking with signature confirmation upon delivery.

7. Damages in Transit

In the rare event that your package arrives damaged:

  1. Photograph the exterior packaging before opening.
  2. Photograph the damaged artwork.
  3. Contact emma@emmajacobsart.com within 48 hours of delivery so we can initiate a carrier claim and arrange a solution.
